onCore UK is a charitable company limited by guarantee and managed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is accountable to the members of the company (the Medical Research Council and Cancer Research UK), act as company directors and as charity trustees. The Board has overall responsibility for the direction, management and control of onCore UK. Our Board is currently made up of a nominee from each of our funders the Department of Health, Cancer Research UK and the Medical Research Council two independent trustess and an independent Chairman.
The Board is chaired by Professor Colin Bird CBE.

The day-to-day running of the charity is conducted by the chief executive officer and a small staff team.
Donated data and samples in our custody are only used for ethically and scientifically approved research. Issues such as consent, confidentiality, and security of the data are guided by an Ethics and Standards Framework and our approvals from Research Ethics Committees.
The dual nature of our existence means that we are regulated as a company by Companies House under the relevant company legislation and as a charity by the Charity Commission under the Charity Act.
We are a Charity registered under number 1111606 and a Company Limited by Guarantee Registered in England & Wales under Company number 05370380.
