Partners

Research funders

The main funders of cancer research in the UK – the Department of Health, Cancer Research UK and the Medical Research Council – also fund onCore UK.

We operate within the umbrella of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) - a partnership of all the major funders of cancer from the public, charity and private sectors.  We work closely with NCRI to ensue that our work aligns with the strategic aims of the overall cancer research effort in the UK.

Existing biobanks

onCore UK works with biobanks in the UK and internationally to share expertise, harmonise best practices and improve access to high quality biosamples for researchers.  We are a founding member of the UK NCRI Confederation of Cancer Biobanks (CCB).

Other research infrastructure initiatives

onCore UK also works with other parts of the national cancer or biomedical research community. For example, we work closely with the National Cancer Research Network (NCRN) Coordinating Centre, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre and the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre (ECMC) Network.
