Policies and Practices

onCore UK has a remit to contribute expertise and best practices to the biobanking and scientific communities. As a result, onCore UK is committed to sharing its policies and procedures so that others can refer to them, adopt or adapt as fits their own needs.

The links on this page will take you to onCore UK’s current standard operating procedures, which are written as detailed documents describing the procedures used by our staff and collaborators. These were written and compiled after studying a large number of available policies and protocols made available by other organisations, biobanks and studies that collect, process and store human biosamples. In our opinion, therefore, they reflect the “pick” of available current “best practice” to fit the needs of onCore UK. However, any reader should consider whether these protocols fit their needs before relying on the content or adopting the use of any of these documents. Feedback from readers who use these documents is welcome.

onCore UK is developing a quality assurance system and the number of SOPs available will increase as the system matures. The available SOPs are divided into technical procedures and quality system procedures. Please note that the versions of the documents shown on this website are not under document control and must not be used as active documents since there may be a delay between issue of a new version and updating the website.
