Sharing Human Tissue: New opportunities, new horizons, National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, UK.

The MRC Regulatory Support Centre, in collaboration with onCore UK, has developed this UK-wide conference for investigators, managers, funders, regulators and patient representatives to discuss the sharing of human tissue resources to maximise their potential for translational research.

  • Professor William Rosenberg, NIHR Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure

Training Workshop: Ethical Principles Relating to Consent for Use of Samples and Related Data in Research, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Old Trafford, Manchester, UK.

This workshop has been developed by onCore UK and the National Research Ethics Service (NRES) in association with the Human Tissue Authority and the National Information Governance Board for Health and Social Care (NIGB).

This is part of a series of workshops being held across the UK and is aimed at a broad research audience including researchers, R&D officers/managers and REC members and co-ordinators.

The workshop aims to provide information that will clarify the ethical principles relating to when consent is or is not required for use of anonymised biological samples in research.

Topics to be covered include:

  • the framework for use of human tissue in research
  • requirements for processing of personal data in research
  • ethical perspectives on consent to use tissue samples for research

NCRI Cancer Conference, BT Convention Centre, Liverpool, UK.

This is the annual conference organised by the National Cancer Research Institute. onCore UK will be attending this conference as an exhibitor with a stand on behalf of the NCRI's Confederation of Cancer Biobanks.

2010 INVOLVE National Conference 'Public involvement in research: innovation and impact', East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham, UK.

INVOLVE was established to promote public involvement in research, in order to improve the way that research is prioritised, commissioned, undertaken, communicated and used. They hold a national conference every two years.
